Who runs this site
DELF Prep is operated by DELFPrep Inc., based in Ontario, Canada. It is a small independent operation: not a language school, not an exam centre, and not a certifying body.
The same team runs tcftefprep.com, a practice site for the TEF and TCF Canada exams.
What the site does
You can take a free level test, run a free demo exam without an account, and sit full timed mock exams for A1, A2, B1 and B2 in the official section order. Paid plans add practice exercises, graded attempts and the complete study guide. Writing and speaking come back with a score and written feedback. Reading and listening are marked automatically.
How the practice material is built
Every exam on this site is generated against a single machine-readable specification of the DELF format: how many exercises each section contains, which task types are allowed at each level, how many items each exercise carries, how long the section runs, and how the points are distributed.
The questions and the audio are machine-generated against that specification rather than written one at a time. Nothing is published until the exercise validates against the specification and a separate automated pass has re-derived the answer key and agreed with it. Each exercise format is also anchored by a hand-written reference exercise.
The free sample papers and the study-guide lessons come from the same source, which is why the answer keys and the point weights match what you see in a mock exam. If an item still looks wrong to you, tell us: those get checked by hand and fixed.
How the AI grading is checked
Writing and speaking are scored against the official DELF marking grids: the same criteria and the same point weights the published barèmes use, level by level, rather than a generic essay rubric.
For writing, that can be measured. We run the grader over published DELF scripts that examiners have already marked, then compare our score with theirs. When the gap widens, the rubric is what gets corrected, not the sample. The same set is rerun during calibration work, including when the grading prompts change.
Speaking is scored on the same official grids, but there is no set of examiner-marked recordings to check it against yet. Of the numbers on this site, a speaking score is the one to trust least.
An AI score is an estimate meant to show you where the marks are being lost. It is not an official result. Only an approved exam centre can award a DELF diploma.
What we are not
DELF Prep is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or accredited by France Éducation international, which owns the DELF. We do not register candidates, schedule sessions, or issue results. For those, contact your local exam centre.
