Who takes DELF B1?
B1 is the most-requested DELF level. It is commonly required for French nationality, a residence permit, or entry to vocational programmes and certain universities. Learners usually reach it after roughly 350 to 400 hours of French.
How to prepare for B1

- 2Drill that weak section, then re-test. Most candidates lose points in production écrite.

What level is DELF B1?+
B1 is the independent user level of the CEFR. You can handle most situations while travelling, follow familiar work or school topics, and express opinions and plans in connected speech and writing.
How is DELF B1 scored?+
Each of the four sections is scored out of 25, for a total of 100. You pass at 50/100, but you must score at least 5/25 in every section.
How long is the DELF B1 exam?+
The three collective sections run about 1 hour 45 minutes together. The individual speaking test is about 15 minutes, with 10 minutes of preparation beforehand.
Does the DELF B1 diploma expire?+
No. The DELF is awarded for life and never needs renewing, unlike the TCF or TEF which are valid for two years.
Is DELF B1 useful for immigration?+
B1 is widely required for French nationality and for many residency and study routes. Practising every section with timed mock exams helps you reach the required 50/100 with each section above 5/25. The DELF is not used for Canada federal Express Entry (that uses the TEF/TCF); it is used for Quebec and education.
