Instructions, notices and how-to documents
Notices, safety rules and how-to pages. Spot one in a single line, then sort what you must do from what you only may do.
By the end of this lesson
- Recognise an instructional document from its verbs, because those verbs announce the questions coming after it.
- Sort every line into one of three values: obligatory, optional, or banned.
- Find the reason printed beside a safety rule, because a why question takes its answer from that half of the sentence.
- Answer an order question with the word that carries the order, and spot the line that only applies sometimes.
