Confirmation de votre inscription

Madame Okafor,

1 → A. “je vous attends à l’entrée pour vous montrer les vestiaires” (I will be waiting for you at the entrance to show you the changing rooms): “je” is the person who signs the letter, Claire Besson, the club secretary.

Trap: the instructor comes later, at the poolside, and the cashier sells swimming caps at the front desk.

2 → C. “Le club prête des lunettes” (the club lends goggles): she does not need to buy any or bring her own.

Trap: the swimming cap is sold at the front desk, and the padlock is something she has to bring herself.

3 → B. “Il nous manque encore votre certificat médical” (we are still missing your medical certificate): it is a document signed by a doctor, and it is the only thing the club is still waiting for.

Trap: the cheque and the photo are in the letter, but the club has already received them.

4 → B. “Si vous êtes absente, prévenez-nous par téléphone” (if you are absent, let us know by phone): for an absence, she has to call.

Trap: email is for any other question, and the front desk is where she hands in her medical certificate.

5 → A. “vous pouvez la rattraper le lundi soir” (you can make it up on Monday evening): making up a session means doing it on another day.

Trap: Tuesday and Thursday are the regular evenings of the course.

Examiner's note: The reply performs the four acts the task asks for: it thanks, declines with an apology and a precise reason (the sister’s move), suggests another outing with the day and the place, and asks a question about the hike. The “tu” form, “Salut” and “Bises” suit a friend, and “malheureusement”, “parce que” and “mais” link the sentences: these three criteria get full marks. Vocabulary and grammar are accurate but stay simple (present tense, “je dois”, “on peut”): half a point is withheld on each, because the top band expects more varied vocabulary and a few more complex structures. The exercise is assessed on the official grid, marked out of 12.5 points.

1 → C. “Louer” (to rent) a flat means paying every month to live in it without buying it.

Trap: you can only “vendre” (sell) what you own, and a visit lasts an hour, not a year.

2 → B. The “loyer” (rent) is the amount the tenant pays the owner of the home every month.

Trap: a “salaire” (salary) is the money you receive for your work, not something you pay your landlord.

3 → A. The “salle de bains” (bathroom) is the room with the shower, the bathtub and the washbasin.
4 → C. An “étage” is a floor of a building: you live on the first, second or third floor.

Trap: the “escalier” (stairs) is what you climb, but you live on a floor, not “on the third staircase”.

5 → B. An “armoire” (wardrobe) is the piece of furniture where you keep your clothes.

Trap: a “table” can be big and made of wood, but you put clothes away inside a piece of furniture that closes, not in a table.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a real exam paper?+

No. Official exam papers are never published. This sample paper was written to the exact format of the exam (exercise types, scoring, timing) for faithful practice.

How is this paper different from the other two DELF A2 sample papers?+

The three papers do not repeat each other. This one has a confirmation letter from a sports club, a reply to an invitation (exercise 2 of the writing section) and housing vocabulary. The first paper is built on a neighbourhood notice and a friendly message that tells a story, the third on a news article and a story for a blog.
