DELF A2 speaking practice (production orale) is a face-to-face test divided into three parts: a brief guided conversation about yourself, a question-and-answer exchange on an everyday topic, and a simple role-play or negotiation. It lasts about 6 to 8 minutes and is worth 25 points.

What the Speaking section tests

DELF A2 speaking tests your ability to communicate in familiar situations: introducing yourself, describing your daily life, discussing preferences, and managing a simple transactional exchange such as asking for information or making a request.

How to prepare

  1. 1Prepare to talk about yourself: your job or studies, your hobbies, your family and where you live.
  2. 2Practise asking and answering simple questions with a language partner or tutor, and use a timed mock exam to rehearse all three parts under real exam conditions.
  3. 3In the role-play, use polite formulas: 'Je voudrais...', 'Est-ce que vous pouvez...'.
  4. 4Review corrected examples of the three-part format so you know the expected length and style for each part.

How do I practice DELF A2 speaking?+

Rehearse all three parts: the guided conversation, the question-and-answer exchange and the role-play. Studying corrected examples helps you understand the examiner's expectations and reduces anxiety on exam day.

How is the A2 speaking section graded?+

Examiners assess communication, vocabulary range, grammatical accuracy and pronunciation. Each part contributes to the 25-point total.

Do I need to speak continuously at A2?+

No. Short answers and simple sentences are acceptable. The examiner will prompt you and keep the exchange going.
