What the Writing section tests
DELF A2 writing tests your ability to communicate in writing about familiar topics using simple, connected sentences. Examiners look at whether you address the task, use appropriate vocabulary and produce basically correct sentences.
How to prepare
- 1Plan before writing: note the points the prompt asks you to cover, then write one sentence per point.
- 2Use simple connectors such as 'et', 'mais', 'parce que' and 'donc' to link your sentences.
- 3Stay on topic: points lost for irrelevance are harder to recover than minor grammar slips.
- 4Practise with corrected examples so you can see how a well-structured A2 answer uses the right register and covers all required points, then do a timed mock exam to practise within the 45-minute limit.
